Jack Stevens, 23, of Grange Road, Gillingham, was sentenced to three years and two months at Maidstone Crown Court after a police dog found a Samsung tablet wrapped in a curtain and hidden behind his bed, containing indecent and prohibited images of a child.
According to court records, Stevens had been convicted in 2025 of making indecent images of children and was made subject to a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order — which included stringent restrictions on using or possessing any electronic device capable of accessing the internet. He was jailed on 13 August 2026 after pleading guilty to breaching it.
Investigators made a regular visit to his Grange Road address on 14 January 2026. Stevens denied having anything that had not been declared.
Police Dog Oakley located a Samsung tablet that had been wrapped in a curtain and hidden behind the bed. Officers seized it and found an indecent image and a prohibited image of a child stored on the device. Stevens had also been using alias names on social media, a further breach of his order. He was arrested, charged the following day on 15 January, and remanded in custody.
He pleaded guilty at Maidstone Crown Court. A further 10-year SHPO will remain in place after his release.
PC Leona Valsler, the investigating officer, said: “As a force we do everything within our powers to ensure offenders like Stevens face justice. PD Oakley was able to provide invaluable support during a search of Stevens’ house and enabled us to safeguard children and convict a high risk registered offender.”
Sexual Harm Prevention Orders are civil orders available to courts in England and Wales to restrict the behaviour of individuals assessed as posing a risk of sexual harm. Conditions can include bans on internet use and on owning internet-enabled devices. Compliance visits of the kind carried out at Stevens’ address are routine.
